Two Desks, One Lamp Still On Past Six On Frost Lane.

Jobcraft is small on purpose. No pool accounts, no handoffs, no fifty-name firehose — just the quiet click of a terminal, a mug going cold, and the slow work of reading an engineer's code before anyone ever reads their résumé.

02 · How We Got Here

Jobcraft Started With One Bad Shortlist.

Not a mission statement — a specific afternoon. Here's the straight line from there to the desk on Frost Lane.

01

The Shortlist That Wasn't

Our founder was hiring a backend engineer for a Series-A team and got fifty résumés back from an agency — keyword-matched, context-free, every one a maybe. None had touched the kind of system the role actually needed. Three weeks gone, the seat still empty, standup still dragging. The lesson stuck: a name without proof is just paperwork.

02

Reading Code Instead

So we flipped the order. Before any introduction, we open the public repos — pull-request threads, the postmortems nobody reads, the quiet commits at 2am when a deploy is on fire. You learn more about an engineer from how they narrate a trade-off than from any line on a CV. That reading became the whole method.

03

Setting Up On Frost Lane

Hadley gave us the room to stay small and deliberate. A desk, a lamp that's still on past six, and a rule we haven't broken: five names, not fifty, each with code we'll vouch for. We'd rather send you nobody than send you the wrong one — and our terms are built to prove we mean it.

Send the role, the stack, the stage. We'll read it tonight and come back with a plan — usually inside the week.

03 · What We Hold To

The Rules That Keep The Desk Honest.

Not values on a wall — the few lines we actually turn work down over.

No. 01

Proof You Can Click Into

Every engineer we send points to code running in production right now — not a folder of tutorial projects, not a résumé full of buzzword bingo. If we can't trace the work, we don't put the name forward.

No. 02

We Stay In Our Lane

Backend and data only — Go, Python, Rust, distributed systems, data platforms. We'd rather know one field cold than skim six. If the role isn't ours, we'll say so and point you somewhere better.

No. 03

The Risk Sits With Us

We only invoice when your engineer countersigns — 20% of first-year base, not a cent before. A search you've already paid for is one nobody has to finish; we keep the risk on our side of the table where it belongs.

No. 04

Ninety Days To Be Sure

Every placement carries a 90-day guarantee. If they leave, or you let them go inside that window, we rerun the search at no new fee and find the next one. The work isn't done when the offer's signed.

04 · Who You'll Actually Talk To

You Meet The Person Reading Your Codebase.

No account managers, no relay race. The recruiter who combs your repos is the one who picks up the phone, writes your shortlist, and sits in on the debrief after the interview. Two desks, the same two sets of eyes on your search from the first brief to the signed offer.

MonClosed — we read, source, and write the notes nobody sees.
Tue–Sat8:30am–4:30pm — calls, screens, and shortlists go out.
Sun11am–4pm — brief reviews and the quiet sourcing nobody interrupts.
